Manaus is the new challenge of Penske

After playing a productive role in the states of Sao Paulo and Bahia, which has nine regions CDs (Distribution Centers), given to customers in electronics, automotive and pharmaceutical, Penske Logistics saw great potential for growth in the city of Manaus (AM ).
Considering the market as a strategic ally for its business pretensions, the company invested $ 2.3 million in a warehouse in the region dedicated to the operations of the brand Whirlpool, which acquired the U.S. company brands Brastemp and Consul.

We believe this new service warehousing and distribution represent 15% of our annual sales in a short time, "said Paul Sarti, CEO of Penske's operations in South America In Brazil, the company making $ 80 million per year .
The choice for the installation of a CD in the industrial free trade zone was not by chance. Penske studied the scene and identified the absence of competitors to match.

It is a market with great potential precisely because of this, there are no major competitors, "said the executive.
The services operated warehouse will serve customers in retail Whirpool throughout Brazil. The site has 11 thousand square meters and capacity to store 15 cubic meters of products, in this case, air-conditioning and microwave. According to Bill Scroggie, president of Penske Logistics South America, initially, the site will generate 37 direct jobs.
"This number will support the commencement of work, but we intend to double the number of employees by December", said the executive, who plans to recover the investment in the CD in three-year contract. He said the company will seek other customers in the region of Manaus to meet in coming months.
New CDs
The quest for business growth in Brazil has not boil down to this warehouse of Manaus. Sarti said that, currently, Penske has expansion projects underway.
"We have several projects to open new ventures in cities like Recife (PE), Curitiba (PR and until the State of São Paulo. By the end of the year we have two or three new CDs in the country, with this increase in the structure will increase 20% of our revenues, "concludes the director.
